‘The Hours’ is the perfect spot to sit and unwind, to catch up with family and friends in relaxed surroundings with the daily papers, scrabble and backgammon close at hand… in fact it’s the just the place to while away the hours.

Situated in a gorgeously wonky Grade II listed building on one of Brecon’s oldest streets, we stock a fine selection of carefully hand-picked books. Our quirky second floor meanwhile, exhibits art by Welsh and Wales-based artists and houses a selection of literary gifts and used books.

Our charming café offers a scrumptious array of freshly prepared food including sandwiches, homemade quiches and hearty platters using local produce where possible, as well as home-made cakes and deliciously smooth fair-trade coffee.

Nepal has diverse geographical regions and this is reflected on foods we serve at the restaurant. The use of fresh herbs and spices, many of which are unique to Nepalese cooking, are prepared in the “khal” (stone mortar), rather than powders used in other Asian cusines.

The heart of a Nepali meal is “daal bhat” (rice and lentils) and “achar” (chutney) with other main dishes thus achieving the ultimate meal. Gurkha Corner Restaurant presents a gastronomic experience, which is prepared with great care and attention and has no room for short cut methods.

The Welsh Borders are home to farmers producing great ingredients.  Welsh beef and lamb, game from local estates, cheeses from world renowned dairies.

And, like so many things, food is best kept simple. We have built the reputation of the Griffin’s kitchen on this maxim.

Menus change daily and seasonally.  In winter you might have venison from the nearby Welsh Venison Centre, or in summer Welsh lamb with peas picked that morning from our own kitchen garden

The Arts Centre is probably situated in one of the most picturesque locations of any venue in the UK. Built alongside the canal basin in the heart of Brecon. The venue currently provides a varied programme of theatre, dance, music and entertainment in its purpose built 477 seat auditorium and 120-seat studio/rehearsal space. It also hosts an exhibition programme in the Gallery.

The Arts Centre serves not only its community through an outstanding programme of quality professional English and Welsh language productions. It is home to the Brecon Baroque Festival and Brecon Jazz Futures, which both attract audiences and visitors nationally and internationally.
